Sorry for such the lag in posting. Things, as they always seem to be, have been pressing. The lady and I have had things to attend for at least one weekend a month. Between that and finishing up school for the semester, shooting time has been very rare. I managed to sneak off for a quick guy vacation up in the Endless Mountains of Pennsylvania. Here's a stretch of Route 154, the road that runs through World's End State Park. I highly recommend visiting, especially for the view from Canyon Vista.
About two weeks ago, director Bill Duke (think Predator and Sawyer's warden from this season of Lost) stopped by the Academy, where I work, to film a scene for his new movie, Cover. The film, which I think is wrapping up production this week if it hasn't already, is about married African-American men having affairs with other men, keeping their orientation on the down low. Razaaq Adoti, who was in Doom with The Rock, and Roger Guenveur Smith were also on set. I'm happy to report that the catering tent on movie sets is as awesome as I have dreamed.
It was pretty cold out this morning (and I should know since I spent two hours out on North Broad working on a movie shoot), but lots of rumors say it will be upwards of 75! This photo is in honor of the fact that you can likely wear shorts without looking like a lunatic for the first time in a long while.
It's not often you see vines and weed in Center City. I spotted this while walking home from work last week. Sorry for the delay in posting, but things, as they tend to be, have been crazy.
This place has been empty for as long as I can remember. I have always liked the typography, though, since it provides an interesting contrast to the graffiti.
The experience I had with taking this picture reminds me what is wrong with this city. About 30 seconds later, my fiancee and I heard the sound of a minor accident about 100 feet away. With grocery bags in hand, we stumbled across the scene, where a young woman leapt out of her car, ripped open the door of the old man who had bumped her car and threatened to beat him up. Then she did. She must have landed about four or five punches to the back of his head before he got his car door closed and drove off. It's a pity he didn't run her over in the process.
Thanks to a pair of free tickets, the significant other and I hit the Philadelphia Flower Show. I'm not much for gardening, but it's quite a sight to behold. I'm also not much for nature photography, but I had fun. This is the underside of a plant, but don't ask me to tell you what kind.
I always have to stop when I see payphones, especially in the city. Usually in Philadelphia, most are damaged beyond repair, but these two on 11th Street look like they're in good shape. I love how the receivers looks like they're pushing away from each other like two magnets.
This was taken on assignment at Shampoo! a few weeks ago. DJ Collette is one of the first female DJs to sing while she spins. The result is neat and I admire her ability to multi-task. I can barely get the needle on one record while concentrating as intensely as possible.
The snow's gone! At least until tomorrow. OK, this image is actually about a week old, but I thought I'd post it anyhow. It took this during one of the early-teasing-you-because-it's-almost-spring days when the snow from the only real storm this year was melting. The other day, I was talking to the significant other about how I used to love cold weather, but now I just hate it. Just look at that blue sky. I can't wait until spring is here.
